Creating the needed momentum for a companywide embracement of our new Vision, Mission and Core Values is not magic. It takes dedication and commitment by all of us - looking at these critical cornerstones of our culture on a daily basis is essential for them to "gel" and become part of "how we do things around here"... It's easy to say you don't have time or these just don't seem real - the challenge is what we do together to make them real and a core part of our business.
Redefining Sullivan’s Vision, Mission and Core Values (VMC) has been a huge success but it is only the beginning! We will be discussing the VMC at the monthly Presidents Call / meeting so if you have questions about our VMC implementation, we can discuss them at that time or feel free to contact your supervisor with any questions in the near term.
We will also be highlighting a different aspect of the importance of the VMC in each of our company quarterly newsletters and a bi-weekly "all staff" email quote that helps to emphasize the understanding and importance of our VMC. The first of these highlights is in the following paragraph. Beginning in June, we will conduct a formal "roll-out" of each Core Value with a detailed description and explanation of how each value plays a critical role in our culture and we will also be announcing a monthly award for a key employee who is recognized for truly embracing the Core Values of Sullivan.
VMC & The Hiring Process & Employee Appreciation
As we continue to bring new employees onto the Sullivan team, integrating the VMC within this process will be critical to ensure we are not only bringing on the right talent but people that will fit in our culture and easily embrace our vision, mission and core values. Hiring managers are ultimately responsible for ensuring potential hires have the right synergy and appreciation for our culture in this process. It's easy to assume that a perfect resume is the right solution for a current project or program need, but if they don't align with our values, the likelihood of the candidate to perform well at Sullivan will be most likely not occur and may have a negative impact on the project and supporting team members. Employee appreciation plays a fundamental role in this process. The right candidate that is hired and who is aligned with our core values, will have a much better opportunity to be recognized by their peers, clients and management as a key player who embraces our values which ultimately creates the recipe for success for them and our company!
